General:  The plant is actually a succulent member of the cactus family, and grown across arid regions of India.  It has small thin stems with spiny leaves and star shaped flowers.  The vegetable can be eaten raw, cooked, or pickled.

Nutritional Information:  Caralluma fimbriata is high in alkaloids, phenolic compounds, saponins, quinones and alkaloids.  It also contains omega-9 fatty acids, hard to find in plant sources.  It is also high in pregnane glycosides, thought to support arterial health.
